Editorial policy
How Hey Sprout writes, reviews, sources, and corrects every clinical page on this site.
Who reviews our clinical content
Every condition page and service page on Hey Sprout is reviewed by a registered Australian clinician before it is published. The reviewer's name and AHPRA registration number appear at the top of every page they have reviewed. You can verify any registration on the AHPRA public register for free.
Our inaugural clinical reviewer is Hannah Chamberlain, a registered speech pathologist. As Hey Sprout grows, additional reviewers from each discipline will be added and their profiles published here.
Review cadence
Every clinical page is reviewed at least once every twelve months. The Last reviewed date in the byline reflects the most recent full review. Pages whose underlying clinical guidance has been updated by Australian or international bodies are re-reviewed sooner.
What counts as a citation
Every condition page on Hey Sprout includes at least three external citations. We prefer sources in this order:
- Australian government and statutory bodies (NDIS, AHPRA, Department of Health, Royal Children's Hospital)
- Peer-reviewed systematic reviews (Cochrane, JAMA, Lancet, etc.)
- Australian professional associations (Speech Pathology Australia, Occupational Therapy Australia, Australian Psychological Society)
- Reputable international bodies (American Academy of Pediatrics, NICE, RACP)
We do not cite news media, opinion pieces, or anonymous blogs as primary sources for clinical claims.
Conflict-of-interest disclosure
Hey Sprout is a commercial NDIS therapy provider. Every condition page on this site exists, in part, to attract families who might book a therapist with us. We disclose this openly because transparency is what makes the rest of our editorial process meaningful.
Our clinical reviewer is the founder's spouse and a co-founder of Hey Sprout. This is a structural conflict and we disclose it rather than hide it. Editorial decisions — what to publish, when to update, what to retract — are governed by the reviewer's professional registration obligations under AHPRA, which apply on every page she puts her name on.
Corrections and feedback
If you spot a clinical inaccuracy, a missing citation, or content that is out of date, please email clinical@heysprout.com.au. Hannah personally reviews every clinical correction request and will respond within five business days. When we correct a page, we update the Last reviewed date and note the change at the bottom of the page.
What this page is not
Pages on Hey Sprout describe conditions and explain how Australian NDIS-funded therapy services work. They are general information, not individual medical advice. They are not a substitute for an assessment by a registered clinician who knows your child or you. If you have a question about your own situation, please book a session or contact your GP or paediatrician.
